Cassia, a nonprofit senior living organization, is hiring a Cash Accountant to join our Home Office team! This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to bring their expertise to a mission-driven organization dedicated to serving older adults. You’ll support the financial operations of multiple Cassia communities while enjoying a collaborative environment, opportunities for professional growth.

As our Cash Accountant, you will support Cassia’s cash management and treasury functions across multiple communities and entities. Each day, you will review banking activity, process electronic payments and transfers, reconcile cash accounts, prepare journal entries, and help ensure the accuracy of cash-related financial transactions. You will work closely with finance, payroll, and banking partners to maintain strong internal controls, safeguard organizational assets, and support timely financial reporting. To be successful, you must be detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Position Type: Full-Time, benefits eligible position

Wage Range:  $50,000 - $65,000 annually depending on experience

Location:  7171 Ohms Lane, Edina, MN, 55439. This position is onsite at the home office in Edina.


Cash Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Review daily bank activity and maintain cash records for multiple accounts.
  • Process ACH transactions, transfers, and payroll funding activities.
  • Monitor Positive Pay and ACH Positive Pay to identify potential fraud.
  • Maintain bank statements and related banking documentation.
  • Deposit checks and cash as needed.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to cash activity.
  • Reconcile cash accounts and research variances.
  • Record resident credit card payments and property tax transactions.
  • Assist with month-end close and related reporting activities.
  • Follow established banking procedures and internal controls.
  • Support audit, tax, treasury, and banking projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with finance, payroll, and operational teams on cash-related matters.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested.

Cash Accountant Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting, treasury, banking, or related financial experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, account reconciliations, cash management processes, and internal controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets, schedules, and financial analyses.
  • Ability to prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, research discrepancies, and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and exercise professional judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
