Valley View Village, a Cassia community, is hiring a Cook/Dietary Aide to join our culinary team! In this dual-role position, you’ll have the opportunity to prepare and serve meals that bring comfort and nourishment to our residents. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to build on your culinary experience, we provide a welcoming environment where you can grow your skills. No senior care experience? No problem—we’ll provide all the training you need!

Position Type: Full-Time   

Hours: 6:30 am to 3:00 pm 

Location: 2571 Guthrie Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317

Cook/Dietary Aide Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver exceptional service to residents by leading and motivating team members to provide fast, friendly and excellent customer service to all guests.
  • Prepare and assist cooking meals to ensure adherence to recipes and quality standards. This will also include feature/specials and grill service.
  • Work within the department to provide quality and nutritious meals and service to residents.
  • Assist with food preparation and serving meals to residents.
  • Help maintain a clean and sanitary culinary department. 
  • Wash dishes and clean the kitchen and dining rooms. 
  • Assist residents, employees, and guests with a broad range of dietary needs. 
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

 Cook/Dietary Aide Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required. 
  • Prior cooking experience in institutional and/or quantity cooking equivalent preferred but not required. We’ll train you for this position!
  • Ability to speak and read English.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with others.
